A list that includes “disease-free” and “vaccinated” has gone viral, with a few locals making the news.
One local says “dope” is his favourite term and another says “the real world” to refer to people from the local community.
The list, published on the popular social media site Facebook, has been widely shared and discussed online.
It includes names such as “Dr Lee Dentist” and one that appears to be based on the real-life family of Brisbane dentist, Dr Lee.
Dr Lee was diagnosed with terminal cancer and has been receiving treatment at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital since July 2016.
The family, who is also known as the Dr Lee family, is also in the spotlight because of their relationship with local business owner Tony Bowery.
The ABC spoke to the family’s mother, Sarah Lee, on Monday night about the popularity of the Facebook page.
“We just want to spread the word that it’s not a joke.
It’s real,” she said.
“There’s no place like home.”
Sarah Lee said it was a big deal for her family to be in the national spotlight.
“It’s so humbling to know that people can actually come out and see our face, it’s a very humbling moment,” she added.
“People are so supportive and they’re supportive of the family and the community.”
Ms Lee said her family wanted to make sure people knew the family was not a “puppet”.
“It was all done with love and love is contagious,” she explained.
“You’ve just got to love them and know they love you back.”
The family has since created an account on Facebook to share more information about their family, including how they are getting on with life.
“They have a good life,” Ms Lee explained.
In the weeks leading up to her diagnosis, the family has been struggling financially.
They also face issues with finding a new home and securing dental supplies.
Ms Lee’s mother said her daughter is trying to stay positive and keep her spirits up.
“I know it can be hard but we have a plan, a plan for her and her family,” she continued.
“She’s a bit of a fighter.”
The ABC has contacted the Dr Lees for comment.
