The opening is the culmination of a five year process that began in February this year, when Dr Hamilton began work at the newly-opened dental clinic.
“It’s the culmination,” he said.
“We’re really pleased to be able to have this new opportunity to offer dental care in Sydney, which is great for the community, for the city, for all the patients and their families.”
The dental care that we offer, and the patients that we treat is world-class.
“Dr Hamilton said the clinic was not a replacement for the existing dental practice, which had been open since 2004.”
This is the beginning of a much bigger partnership between the local dental and medical community, the community and the community at large,” he added.”
In the long term, I think this will be a model for other parts of Sydney.
“Mr Hamilton, who is also the CEO of the St James Hospital, said the opening would allow more residents to be treated by the dentists in the local community.”
I think it will be really exciting for our community,” he told ABC Radio Sydney.”
If you look at the dental facilities in Sydney in particular, there’s a lot of dentists, and they’re quite good dentists but there’s not a lot more that the community can do.
“There’s no dental clinic here.
There’s just a dentist who works out of the office and he treats patients.”
Mr Hamilton said the facility would not have been possible without the financial support of the local and state governments, including the NSW Government, which provided $1.3 million in funding.
“Myself and my team have worked really hard over the last five years to build a community dental clinic with the help of the NSW and Australian Government,” he explained.
“So I’m really proud of what we’ve achieved.”
