The dentist profession has been accused of fraud, extortion and other crimes for years.
But in the last two weeks, the dentists at the helm of the dentistry industry in the United States have been caught red-handed in the act.
According to a new report from the Institute for Justice, the dentist who’s in charge of dental care for the nation’s most affluent people is allegedly stealing and misusing patients’ funds for personal enrichment.
The report found that the American Dental Association (ADA) is not alone in having a dentist in charge who is profiting off patients.
In a statement, ADA CEO Michael Cohen said: The ADA has been committed to providing safe and ethical dental care to our members and patients for over 80 years.
We have always taken the lead in educating and protecting our members from dentists who steal from their patients.
And we have never been a party to the kind of egregious wrongdoing that has been revealed in the recent investigation by IJ.
As we have previously shared, we are actively working with the Attorney General’s Office to pursue and hold accountable those who are complicit in fraud and misconduct in our profession.
We will continue to hold accountable individuals who are engaged in this type of criminal activity.
IJ is also calling on the American Dentist Association (ADAA) and other dental associations to immediately cease all practices of dental fraud and abuse.
This comes just two weeks after the U.S. Surgeon General announced that he would conduct an investigation into dentistry practices and practices of dentists in violation of the ADA’s ethical code.
