I’ve always had a soft spot for dentists.
But I never thought I’d be doing my own dental work for the first time, when my wife moved to Florida from California and we moved into a new home.
“We were living in this big old house, and it was hard,” I said.
After I saw the first patient, we realized that our office wasn’t equipped to provide care for them.
I realized that the next time I needed a dental appointment, I would have to go to another dentist in another state.
So I started looking for dental practice providers, and soon discovered that it was very difficult to find dental providers who were willing to work with me.
And that’s when I realized, “I’m going to have to start my own practice!”
I’m now a certified dental hygienist.
In 2017, I opened my own office in Seattle.
At first, I thought I was just going to get a dental cleaning appointment from my dental hygerist.
That’s when the dental hygeineer told me, “You’re going to need to come down to the office and work with us.”
I was like, “Oh wow, I have no idea how to work together with my dentist.”
So when I got there, I was like “Wow, I can’t even start to figure out how to do this.”
Then I realized that my dental assistant was my only dental hygenist, so I was stuck in a situation where I had to teach her how to read my mouth.
We had to talk through it and figure out a way to communicate, but then I found my dentist.
The dentist showed me that I had a very strong connection to my office and that I could work together well.
It’s a great lesson for me because it helped me understand the importance of communication and collaboration.
This is my first dental practice, but it has the same purpose as my office, which is to give people a first-hand experience with their dentistry.
My dental hygueir is a certified oral health care specialist, so when she visits my office she will be able to tell me how to make sure I’m doing the best I can with my patients.
She also provides a great perspective about dental care for women, which helps to inspire me to do better.
